Today's adventure was Belkin Family Lookout Farm. Located in South Natick, Mass. it was only an hour ride, however the two tots decided to conk out 10 min before we arrived. We spent some time in the car before waking them up. Mainly because as we got to the parking area, there were cars.. but it looked like a ghost town. I wasn't impressed at that point and didn't get why would we would be paying to stay there. I checked out the website from my phone and saw they had a children's area, so at least there was that.. right? The farm is open on Saturdays and Sundays from 10am-5pm. Right now the admission price is 8.00 per person, kids under 2 are free (yippee). For me, it was worth the 8.00 for the day today. Prices go up as the U-Pick season starts, so make sure you check the site for more info. To get around the place, there's a train that goes through the farm. It's free with your admission and the only way to get through. The train goes around every 15 min. Both kids LOVED the train. The farm is SUPER organized. I'd never seen such perfect rows of trees with labels and signs just about everywhere. They mean business! I'd like to go back in the fall for sure. For today though, we just visited the children's area. There is a petting zoo in the children's area, but the animals are only there from Sept-Oct. They did have a few goats out today, but the rest of the cages were empty. The big hit of the day was the catepillar ride. Adults aren't allowed on the ride, it's a 5 min loop around the children's area. We strapped Bre and Kaeden in, and hoped for the best.
They did make it back in one piece! There was a playground in the middle which had many ride ons, a seesaw, a double slide and some climbers for the bigger kids. There was a burlap maze and a hay pyramid one end, and a treehouse with a big slide on the other. There was also live entertainment in the form of a "Laurie Berkner"-esque type of performer. There was a moonbounce, but it wasn't open because of the wind. As we started to pack up they had a face painter starting. All these things were included with our admission.
We brought our own lunches, there were picnic tables set up and garbage cans so lunch was easy. They also had port-a-potty's around and they were VERY clean.
